Sony XSP-N1BT is a 2-DIN Bluetooth smartphone dock for your car

Sony has released the XSP-N1BT 2-DIN car audio receiver, which is essentially a Bluetooth dock for your smartphone. The receiver allows you to clamp your smartphone to the front and play audio through the car speakers.

The XSP-N1BT has dock connector that works exclusively with Xperia phones and also charges them. Other phones do work with the receiver but you won’t be able to charge them. The pairing is taken care of by NFC and the audio transfer is over Bluetooth. You control the basic functions of the smartphone, such as music, calls, maps, etc. through Sony’s app, which can be installed on any Android smartphone.

The XSP-N1BT has a CD player and FM tuner built-in that functions regardless of whether you have a smartphone plugged into the front. It also has its own USB port for playing audio off a USB drive or an iPod and for charging devices with a 1.5A output. The built-in 55Wx4 output will take care of your basic amplification needs.
It sucks that the receiver does not have wireless charging or that it does not support the aptX codec (only SBC). Also, at $249.99, the price is a bit steep for what is essentially a fairly basic system. This could be a great option if you have an Xperia Z Ultra as the large display could really help with the navigation but otherwise a simpler, cheaper system could also get the job done just fine.
