Samsung Galaxy S5 gets a 5,900mAh battery courtesy of Mugen

Battery maker Mugen has come up with yet another outrageously large battery replacement for a flagship smartphone. The company has released a 5,900 mAh juice pack for the Samsung Galaxy S5, which promises to take its already great battery life to unbelievable heights.

The catch is that you will have to give up on the marvelously slim waistline of the smartphone – the extended battery comes with its own replacement cover and it’s obviously way thicker than the stock one. Mugen hasn’t specified exact dimensions, but has confirmed that the replacement cover also enables Qi wireless charging and retains the NFC functionality.
Simple math shows that the Samsung Galaxy S5, which posted a 72h score with its 2,800mAh battery in our endurance test, should be able to more than double that achievement. Under the same usage pattern the extended battery should manage a 152h endurance rating, over 19 hours of web browsing and over 22 hours of video playback.
The battery is available at the source link below, complete with a cover in either black or white. It costs $89.50 with free worldwide shipping, though, so think well before forking out the cash.

Future Nokias may have Carl Zeiss optics, but HMD is playing coy

Long before Huawei partnered with a legendary German camera brand, Nokia put Carl Zeiss-branded lenses on its phones. A recent Tweet led people to believe that partnership will not carry over to the HMD-made phones, but now there’s a glimmer of hope. It turns out that was a mistake - the tweet only meant that the current Nokias (6, 5 and 3) do not have Zeiss optics, not that new phones definitely will not have them. Of course, that’s not the same as confirming that they will, even though the tweet ends with a tantalizing “stay tuned”. New rumor suggests OnePlus 3T will be cheaper in China

When the OnePlus 3T was announced last week, its US and European pricing information was revealed - the device will carry $439 and $479 price tag for the 64GB and 128GB variants, respectively, in the US, while in the EU the prices will be €439 and €479, respectively. Now, a new rumor has revealed the expected price tag the handset will carry in China. According to the rumor, the 64GB variant of the phone is expected to cost RMB 2,799 (around $405), while the 128GB model will set you back RMB 3,299 (around $480). The report adds that there's a possibility that the company might bring down the price of the 128GB variant to RMB 3,199 (around $465). The device is priced at IDR 14.999 million, which translates into around a whopping $1135 at current exchange rates. Last week, there were reports that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature facial recognition technology, which will be used to unlock the phone. Now, a new report is suggesting that the tech will be used for mobile payments as well. MIUI 8 to arrive alongside Mi Max on May 10, Xiaomi confirms

We already know that the Xiaomi Mi Max - which is said to sport a mammoth 6.4-inch FullHD display - will be unveiled on May 10. However, turns out that Xiaomi will make a couple of more announcements that day - the company has confirmed that the next major iteration of its MIUI ROM as well as the Mi Band 2 will also be unveiled on May 10.
