New Details and Art Emerge For PS4-Exclusive Resogun

Housemarque is bringing the next-gen heat.

If there’s one thing I can say about Housemarque’s PS4 launch exclusive Resogun, it’s that it’s the best next-gen game I’ve played so far. The simple truth is, I’ve had more fun with it than I have even with promising exclusives like Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack, and there’s a reason for that: Resogun is all about pure, unfiltered gameplay.
Games like Shadow Fall and Knack have been undeniably enjoyable and engaging in their own right, but playing Resogun gives a glimpse into an addictive near-future, where you’re chasing your friends’ high scores on PlayStation Network for months at a time. Then again, this shouldn’t come as any surprise, as Housemarque is well-known for games -- like Super Stardust – that puts their hooks into you and refuse to let go.

Today, developer Housemarque has given IGN five pieces of exclusive art from the game, showing off each of Resogun’s five worlds. You can see some of that art embedded in this very article, and you can go here to see all five pieces of art in higher resolution.

Housemarque has also provided new information beyond (!) the game’s beautiful art. For starters, each of the game’s five worlds will come in three phases, as anyone who has played the game can attest. The last phase always includes a boss, which gives Resogun an almost Super Stardust-meets-Shatter kind of feel.

Additionally, Resogun comes packing four difficulty levels: Rookie, Experienced, Veteran, and Master. “Veteran and Master add on top of faster and more deadly waves [of enemies] a feature called ‘Revenge Bullet,’” according to the developer. We’ll see more of Revenge Bullet soon; it supposedly looks gorgeous when it’s unleashed.

Resogun is a PlayStation 4-exclusive, and launches alongside the console this November. We’ll have much more on the game between now and launch, including a full review.
