Dark Souls 2 DLC 'Is Not Really Being Considered'
"We want to deliver a full game."
Dark Souls II is unlikely to get any DLC, as the developer wants the game to release as a "full experience".In an interview with Edge, From Software's Takeshi Miyazoe explained that despite the original Dark Souls having DLC, the studio wasn't thinking about creating any for the sequel.
We want to deliver a full game, the full experience.
“We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls II
is not really being considered. Buy the package and you’ll get the full
experience, and you’ll have as much fun as anybody else.”Additionally, Miyazoe was asked whether there had been mutterings about the game going free-to-play, as publisher Namco Bandai has displayed a certain fondness for the model recently with the likes of Tekken and Soul Calibur, and given the perceived similarities with Capcom's Deep Down.
Reassuringly, he said that the franchise wouldn't be heading down that road any time soon, explaining, "Spending a couple dollars on certain items does not help the experience. So no free-to-play yet."
