Dead Rising 3

Crafting

The combination system from Dead Rising 2 returns in this game, with dozens more craftable weapons, items and vehicles. All of them are unique, and they all serve the same purpose: making Nick a better zombie slayer.
There are 101 different Combo Weapons that can be created, including a plethora of Super Combo Weapons that are essentially massively powerful versions of two Combo Weapons fused together.

There are also 11 Combo Vehicles to be used not only for crushing, burning, squishing and melting the undead, but also safely carting players around Los Perdidos. Crafting is simple once you have the necessary components, and is made even easier when you purchase different Combo Categories from the Player Attribute upgrade screen.

While most of these combination weapons are incredibly effective at re-deading the undead, and all of them are fun to use, there are several that should become a staple of your arsenal. We recommend keeping these in your inventory at all times:
  • Heavy Metal - A lead pipe meshed with a 2x4, with some barbed wire added for extra flare. This sturdy death club is one of the first and most readily available combo weapons in the game, especially when you purchase the 'Blunt Objects' combo category. This is one of the first blueprints you'll come across - it's on top of the black prison bus directly across the street from Rhonda's Garage.
  • Grim Reaper - While there are several versions of this weapons, the standard G.R. is both durable enough to withstand serious use while also being capable of cutting down fields of zombies at a time. There are several locations in Ingleton where Grim Reaper blueprints can be acquired: The knife shop near the burger joint, on top of the slide in the playground, above the shack near the gun store and behind a wall near the sewer entrance.
  • Chopper - What's better than killing a zombie with a large axe? Killing a zombie with a large axe... duct-taped to a second, smaller axe. The Chopper provides speedy-yet-powerful attacks that allow you to clear out hordes of zombies without sacrificing forward momentum. Find the Chopper blueprint on the roof next to the safehouse entrance in southern Ingleton.
  • DynaMeat - By strapping a stick of dynamite to a hunk of meat, you'll create a delicious and tasty treat that no zombie can ignore. When thrown, this item will lure zombies towards it (preferably away from you) and then explode into a symphony of blood and guts. The blueprint is available in the warehouse / hangar in southern Almuda at the beginning of chapter 03.
  • Z.A.R. - This combination assault rifle / shotgun will not only allow you to put down groups of zombies in seconds flat, but also gives you an instant upper hand in almost every boss or psychopath battle you'll encounter. You can find the Z.A.R. schematics at the end of chapter 03 when you enter the police station.
