After Facing Delays, Nvidia Shield is Finally Shipping July 31st

Nvidia's Android-powered handheld gets a new launch date.

Originally scheduled to launch June 27th, Nvidia's Shield was delayed as a result of a mechanical issue found with one of the handheld gaming unit's components. Now the company has announced that the problem has been resolved and the portable is in full production with shipping set to start on July 31st. The handheld will be available for the recently reduced price of $299 and, for a limited time, those who order one will get a Shield t-shirt free of charge.
Announced at CES 2013, Nvidia's Shield is an Android-powered handheld that features a full controller and a 5-inch 720p display. The unit can be used to play downloaded titles from the Google Play store or Nvidia's TegraZone, and is also capable of streaming PC games via Wi-Fi from well-equipped computers using the company's GeForce GTX GPUs.
Sheild will be available online through NewEgg and Nvidia, and will be sold at GameStop, Canada Computers, and Micro Center stores.
