Oppo Neo 5 is official in Malaysia, starts selling next week

Oppo has officially revealed the Neo 5, its latest affordable LTE smartphone, successor of the Oppo Neo.
The company has significantly updated the internals with a Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage (expandable with the microSD card slot). The display is a 4.5" with a 854 x 480 pixel resolution, which equates to 218 ppi.


The phone is running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with the company's ColorOS UI on top. At the back above the 1,900mAh battery sits a 5MP snapper with a BSI CMOS sensor and f/2.4 aperture.
The phone comes with screen-off gestures, Wi-Fi display and support for Flash playback. The Oppo Neo 5 measures 132 x 65.8 x 9.2mm and weighs 132.5 g.
Expect the phone to hit Malaysia starting next week for $190 (RM598). A wider release may also be planned, but Oppo hasn't provided additional information at this point.

Nexus 5 Snap Case now available on Play Store

Google has added a new case for the Nexus 5 on the Play Store. Called the Snap Case, the new case is made from a harder material and unlike the previous Bumper Case or the QuickCover does not wrap completely around the device. The new Snap Case is lighter and thinner than the other two cases and is designed to offer protection without adding too much to the size and weight of the phone. There are already several variations of this design available for the Nexus 5 from third party manufacturers. The Snap Case is available in black, white, grey, aqua and clear for $29.99, which is a bit steep as you can get a similar case from other manufacturers for half the price.

Android N Developer Preview now available on Sony Xperia Z3

Android N is yet to be officially named later this year, but it was already detailed last month. It offers multi-window (split-screen) multitasking, improved Doze mode, better notification handling among others. Microsoft promo shaves $150 off the prices of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book

This isn't the first limited time price cut that Microsoft applies for the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, and it clearly won't be the last. It is a pretty sweet deal however, so if you've been eyeing either of these devices it would be a pity not to take advantage of it while it lasts. Through Microsoft's online store, you can now buy select Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book models for $150 less than before.
