Lockout is Being Remastered for Halo: The Master Chief Collection

The fan-favorite map makes a remastered return in The Master Chief Collection.

Lockout is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection as the fifth fully remastered multiplayer map.

"As one of the flagship Halo 2 tournament maps, Lockout was home to a wide host of game types, including Free-for-All, Oddball, King of the Hill, 1-Flag CTF, and of course, Team Slayer," a Microsoft representative told Gamespot.

Max Hoberman, the lead designer for the original Halo 2 and president of Certain Affinity - the studio assisting 343 Industries with the multiplayer development for the Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer, said of the announcement that "Lockout was hands-down the most popular small arena-style map in Halo 2." He added that the team is paying close attention to the "details and subtleties" of the original, while making some "very calculated enhancements."
According to Hoberman, the most notable changes to Lockout include an additional amount of cover, as well as a dynamic element "that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies."
We previously learned that Coagulation, Zanzibar, Sanctuary, and Ascension are also being remastered for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The final remastered map will presumably be revealed sometime before November 11, when Halo: The Master Chief Collection releases exclusively on Xbox One.
