Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 update to bring folders on Start screen

Microsoft is readying the first update to Windows Phone 8.1 already. The company has started detailing what the new features of WP8.1 GDR1 are and NokiaPowerUser.com has obtained more information on what those will be.

GDR1 update will bring folder support on the Start menu. Users will be able to drop tiles on top of other tiles to create a folder. Next up, is the support for interactive cases. This would allow manufacturers to make cases similar to their Android counterparts, such as the HTC Dot View case and LG G3's QuickCircle case.
Additionally, the update would bring support for 7" devices as well as ones with 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution. More minor improvements include a medium Live tile for the Store app, VoLTE support and an update for Cortana.
According to information obtained by TheVerge, Microsoft is ready with the development of the WP8.1 GDR1 update and plans to start seeding it to developers either next week or within August.
