Tinder’s swipe-happy layout is so addictive, that other app developers are taking notice.
Weave is one such app, that helps you not find dates, but potential workplace connections.
Think of Weave as a more casual Linkedin, and it operates exactly like Tinder does. The latter requires that you login with your Facebook credentials, and Weave, you guessed it, requires that you login with your Linkedin account.
Weave then scans for other gainfully employed (or searching) people in your area, and you’ll be able to swipe either right or left to decide who you’d want to connect with or who you’d rather just pass on. Like Tinder, if someone selects you, you’ll be able to chat with them and discuss bussiness-ey stuff or whatever professionals do.
The app is now available for Android and iOS, and the more you use it, the more you’ll pop up in other user’s Weave searches.

Samsung releases Gear 2 and Gear Fit SDK

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo went official just three days ago, running on a Tizen-based OS. This time around though Samsung has confirmed both smartwatches will support third-party apps. The lack of third-party apps was a major drawback on the first Gear watch and we are happy to see Samsung is changing its strategy. So, just as promised at the announcement, the SDK for the Gear 2 duo is now live. Even better, the SDK also supports the Tizen-based Galaxy Fit band, so it will also welcome third-party apps once it hits the shelves. Finally, Samsung is launching another SDK for the S-Health services. Both SDK kits are now available for download on Samsung’s Developer Portal.

Microsoft Office Mobile for Android drops Office 365 subscription requirement

Yesterday, Microsoft finally announced the Office suite of apps for the iPad, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. But along with the new announcement, Microsoft also made a quiet change to its existing Android app. Just like its iOS counterparts, the Android version of the Office Mobile app required an Office 365 subscription to actually be used to create and edit documents. Surprisingly, Microsoft has dropped that requirement now, which means you can access the app fully without having to spend a dime. The app still only lets you create Word and Excel files, with no way to create or edit PowerPoints and all your files will be saved on your OneDrive instead of locally. Also, there isn’t really a version optimized for Android tablets yet. Still, it’s a free app so you can’t complain much about it.

The first is a theme store where users can purchase additional themes for the keyboard, including the new Star Trek theme. Second, there is now an emoji drawer, which allows you to pick and choose all the system emoji. Other than that there is also support for two new languages, improved auto-correct, and bug fixes. You can now upload images and videos in landscape or portrait orientation and are no longer restricted to the 1:1 square aspect ratio.
