Samsung is making good progress on its foldable Galaxy X smartphone

Samsung has been going on and on about Project Valley for well over a year now, but, we can't really say we mind. The idea that foldable display tech is finally here and almost within end-user reach is enough to get any tech enthusiast excited, the long wait being the only real problem.
Luckily, it finally looks like Samsung is making actual progress on taking project Valley out of the lab and into user hands. The Korean giant officially has a trademark for the Galaxy X moniker. This new model family has already been tied to Project Valley in more than a few leaks. The prevailing opinion seems to hint at two new headsets - the SM-X9000 Galaxy X1 and SM-X9050 Galaxy X1+.

We realize the connection is still fickle, at best, but the overall puzzle does seem to be finally taking shape. Allegedly, Samsung is planning a limited initial release of one or two foldable phones in Q3 or Q4 this year. These could very well be the Galaxy X1 and X1+.

Depending on the initial response to the new tech and the significant form factor revolution it brings with it, we can likely expect wider adoption next year. And if Samsung doesn't come through, LG has already hinted at a pretty similar roadmap on its end. So, one way or another, we will be getting a taste of foldable display tech.

Galaxy S5 pre-orders in Sweden, Russia and Czech Republic

Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders continue to expand throughout Eurasia – following the Netherlands and Romania , the new flagship is now available for pre-order in Sweden, Russia and the Czech Republic . In Sweden, the Galaxy S5 is available for around SEK 6,200 (€700 / $950) off contract, but several carriers have offers too. Tre (Swedish Three) prices start at SEK 328 / month and the carrier will throw in a free 32GB microSD card . Telia has it at SEK 380 / month and SEK 6,400 on prepaid. Tele2 has the blue Galaxy S5 (the other two carriers have only Black and White) and with a 2-year contract, the monthly cost is SEK 424. A pre-paid option is available too at SEK 6,400. In Russia , Samsung's official page advertises the pre-order at RUB 30,000 (€600 / $830). If you pre-order by April 9, you'll get a RUB 2,000 voucher to spend on Samsung Apps. New rumor suggests OnePlus 3T will be cheaper in China

When the OnePlus 3T was announced last week, its US and European pricing information was revealed - the device will carry $439 and $479 price tag for the 64GB and 128GB variants, respectively, in the US, while in the EU the prices will be €439 and €479, respectively. Now, a new rumor has revealed the expected price tag the handset will carry in China. According to the rumor, the 64GB variant of the phone is expected to cost RMB 2,799 (around $405), while the 128GB model will set you back RMB 3,299 (around $480). The report adds that there's a possibility that the company might bring down the price of the 128GB variant to RMB 3,199 (around $465). Future Nokias may have Carl Zeiss optics, but HMD is playing coy

Long before Huawei partnered with a legendary German camera brand, Nokia put Carl Zeiss-branded lenses on its phones. A recent Tweet led people to believe that partnership will not carry over to the HMD-made phones, but now there’s a glimmer of hope. It turns out that was a mistake - the tweet only meant that the current Nokias (6, 5 and 3) do not have Zeiss optics, not that new phones definitely will not have them. Of course, that’s not the same as confirming that they will, even though the tweet ends with a tantalizing “stay tuned”. Last week, there were reports that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature facial recognition technology, which will be used to unlock the phone. Now, a new report is suggesting that the tech will be used for mobile payments as well.
