Black Samsung Galaxy S8 leaks in new photos

Samsung Galaxy S8 just refuses to wait patiently for its official announcement - images of the upcoming flagship leaked once more. The new photos are of the black version of the phone and align nicely with previous ones.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is reported to have 5.8” Super AMOLED dual-curved display with extremely thin bezels. The chipset will be Snapdragon 835 with 4 GB RAM, but there are reports that China will get a 6 GB RAM version.
The phone will come with redesigned user interface and entirely new AI voice assistant named Bixby.

Along with Galaxy S8, a bigger Galaxy S8+ will be launched. The main difference is the size of the display - 6.2 inches in diagonal and the battery - it will be 3,500 mAh, reportedly.

Samsung releases Gear 2 and Gear Fit SDK

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo went official just three days ago, running on a Tizen-based OS. This time around though Samsung has confirmed both smartwatches will support third-party apps. The lack of third-party apps was a major drawback on the first Gear watch and we are happy to see Samsung is changing its strategy. So, just as promised at the announcement, the SDK for the Gear 2 duo is now live. Even better, the SDK also supports the Tizen-based Galaxy Fit band, so it will also welcome third-party apps once it hits the shelves. Finally, Samsung is launching another SDK for the S-Health services. Both SDK kits are now available for download on Samsung’s Developer Portal.

Microsoft Office Mobile for Android drops Office 365 subscription requirement

Yesterday, Microsoft finally announced the Office suite of apps for the iPad, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. But along with the new announcement, Microsoft also made a quiet change to its existing Android app. Just like its iOS counterparts, the Android version of the Office Mobile app required an Office 365 subscription to actually be used to create and edit documents. Surprisingly, Microsoft has dropped that requirement now, which means you can access the app fully without having to spend a dime. The app still only lets you create Word and Excel files, with no way to create or edit PowerPoints and all your files will be saved on your OneDrive instead of locally. Also, there isn’t really a version optimized for Android tablets yet. Still, it’s a free app so you can’t complain much about it.
