HP Slate 7 Extreme gets its Android 4.4.2 update 4 months late

So Tegra Note 7 devices already had their Android 4.4.2 updates primed and ready to go from NVIDIA about four months ago, and just now the HP Slate 7 Extreme received the update.

Despite being nearly identical to other Tegra Note 7 tablets, (like the EVGA Tegra Note 7, for example), 4.4.2 has just now been made available for HP’s tablet.
So who do we blame for the delay? It’s most likely HP’s fault, which is unsurprising. It’s hard to imagine that the Slate 7 Extreme sold particularly well or is treated as the most important device in HP’s lineup, so the update must’ve slipped through the cracks somehow and not made a priority.
That’s a long time for an update to be delayed, especially when you consider that nearly identical tablets received the upgrade months ago. Not to mention that the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition will be getting its Android 4.4.4 update in a few days. This doesn’t make HP seem exactly current with its software updates.
At least HP decided to push the update to the devices. If you’re a Slate 7 Extreme owner, all you need to do to get the update is head to Settings > About Tablet > System Update, and then you’ll be good to go.

Google Maps now has a bottom bar for real-time traffic and transit info

Google Maps is becoming more and more driving-friendly with latest updates. Lately we told you about some updates that brought parking availability on Android and Popular Times’ evolution into real-time data on iOS. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to come with new design, flexible display

The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch has been rumored to come out in tandem with the Galaxy S5. Now a new publication in a Korean media, which claims to be in touch with Samsung insiders, the new generation smartwatch will be announced in March or April. The announcement is likely to happen in London, probably at an Unpacked event. The insider also claims that Samsung has felt the need to radically change the design of the upcoming Gear. The overhaul will include a new, flexible OLED display. 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact owners can test drive Android Marshmallow

This way for the Marshmallow trial. Sony's Concept for Android initiative will allow 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact owners to beta test Android's new major version. The new software is built on feedback Sony received from the initiative launched earlier this year. If you want in, you'll have to check in with the Concept Sign-up app . Original TV Shows Landing on Xbox in Early 2014

Halo series could launch soon. During an industry breakfast in Los Angeles, Microsoft's president of entertainment and digital, Nancy Tellem, said the planned original TV programming for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One will tentatively launch in early 2014.
