Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is finally official with a 5.7" display

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) has been visiting the rumor mill quite frequently these past few months. We got to see the full set of early benchmarks, including GFXBench and AnTuTu, followed by a set of pretty detailed renders. However, despite all the available information, there were still some points of confusion, like the display size.
Today, Samsung finally took the wrapper off the Galaxy A8 (2016) in its home market. Design-wise, this year's model come surprisingly close to its predecessor. And frankly, considering the slim and flush metal unibody design, that is more of a bonus then anything else. The display sits is a 5.7-inch AMOLED panel of 1080p resolution. Other specs include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The chipset is actually borrowed from last year's S6 flagship line. And just like the design language, Samsung's own Exynos 7420 is still a relevant and formidable powerhouse with its four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores, built on a 14nm process.

As for cameras, the Galaxy A8 (2016) is rocking a 16MP main shooter and an 8MP front-facing one. More details are yet to be disclosed, but we are likely looking at the Galaxy S6 camera. On the software side, the handset boots Android 6.0.1 out of the box and features the new Grace UX, which debuted on the Note7. There is also an Always On Display feature and a fingerprint reader in the home button, compatible with Samsung Pay. All this is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery.
As already mentioned, the Galaxy A8 (2016) was made official in Samsung's home market and there is still no info whether an international release will follow and if so, when. The phone will be exclusively available for pre-order in blue color from SK Telecom, starting October 1. The asking price is KRW 649,000 or around $580.
