Remote desktop company LogMeIn acquires Lastpass

Popular password management service LastPass has been acquired by LogMeIn (a remote computer-access firm) for a total of $125 million. The deal is expected to close in the coming weeks.
"LastPass has a great business, a beloved and award winning product, millions of loyal users, and thousands of great business customers – they are synonymous with the category," said LogMeIn’s Chairman and CEO Michael Simon.
"We believe this transaction instantly gives us a market leading position in password management, while also providing a highly favorable foundation for delivering the next generation of identity and access management solutions to individuals, teams and companies."
Back in September last year, LogMeIn acquired identity management service Meldium. Simon revealed that while the company will continue supporting both LastPass and Meldium in the near-term, the long-term goal is to merge them into a single offering based on the LastPass service and brand.
For those who aren't aware, back in June this year, LastPass reported a security breach, revealing that hackers managed to access some information including email addresses, password reminders, server per user salts, and authentication hashes.

Google Maps now has a bottom bar for real-time traffic and transit info

Google Maps is becoming more and more driving-friendly with latest updates. Lately we told you about some updates that brought parking availability on Android and Popular Times’ evolution into real-time data on iOS. But now this information will be even more accessible for you - Google is placing the Transit and Traffic buttons on a bottom bar, instead of the menu that has to be pulled from the left side. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to come with new design, flexible display

The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch has been rumored to come out in tandem with the Galaxy S5. Now a new publication in a Korean media, which claims to be in touch with Samsung insiders, the new generation smartwatch will be announced in March or April. The announcement is likely to happen in London, probably at an Unpacked event. The insider also claims that Samsung has felt the need to radically change the design of the upcoming Gear. The overhaul will include a new, flexible OLED display. 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact owners can test drive Android Marshmallow

The new software is built on feedback Sony received from the initiative launched earlier this year. If you want in, you'll have to check in with the Concept Sign-up app . Original TV Shows Landing on Xbox in Early 2014

Halo series could launch soon. During an industry breakfast in Los Angeles, Microsoft's president of entertainment and digital, Nancy Tellem, said the planned original TV programming for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One will tentatively launch in early 2014. According to Variety , Tellem acknowledged the process to get the new shows on Xbox consoles has been "slower" than expected. "We're hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter," said Tellem.
