Huawei Mate 9 image quality scores 85 in DxOMark test report

Image quality engineers from DxOMark put the Leica-powered dual-camera of Huawei Mate 9 to the test. The smartphone scored 85 which placed it on par with LG V20’s imaging abilities.
Last month we put the device to our tests and we examined the dual camera in detail. It consists 20 MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB one and produces some pretty remarkable results.
DxO’s report notes the impressive job the Mate 9 does at capturing outdoor scenes. The level of detail is fascinating for such small sensor and the exposure is quite accurate. In poor daylight though loss of detail is visible in shadows.
Low-light, indoor and flash images are also good partially thanks to the monochromatic camera. The flash tends to give a green tint to the images though.
The overall result places Huawei Mate 9 behind Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 and Apple iPhone 7.
