iPhone crosses 1 billion sales milestone

Apple has announced that it has sold more than 1 billion iPhones till date, a milestone that was achieved in less than 10 years. The announcement came from none other than CEO Tim Cook during an employee meeting in Cupertino.
"iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history," said Cook. "Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference."
This comes shortly after Apple announced its fiscal Q3 results, revealing a drop in overall iPhone sales for the second straight quarter.

Grand Theft Auto V Dominates US Sales in September

Nintendo's 3DS wins the hardware war. The NPD Group has revealed the top ten best-selling games in the United States for the month of September, 2013. Total sales – including hardware, software, and accessories – amounted to $1.079 billion for the month, up 27 percent from the same month last year. While hardware sales were down 13 percent compared to September of 2012 -- $183.2 million in hardware was sold this month – accessories were up two percent, and software sales were up a staggering 40 percent. When console, portable, and PC games are taken together, software sales amounted to $768.6 million. Oppo R7s will reportedly also have a 4GB RAM option

While we already knew that Oppo's upcoming R7s smartphone will have 3GB RAM, it has now been revealed that the device will also be offered in a 4GB RAM variant. For those who aren't in the know, other rumored specifications of the handset include Snapdragon 615 SoC, 5.5-inch FullHD AMOLED display, 32GB expandable internal memory, 13MP/8MP camera combo, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is also said to carry a bigger battery than the R7. Video shot on LG V20 details the advantages of Android 7.0 Nougat

With no IFA to worry about, LG is setting up for its own September 6 party and it's cooking up some nougat - but the recipe is half about actual nougat and half about how awesome the new LG V20 will be. It will be the first phone to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat (no Nexus event yet). There's a heavy emphasis on multitasking - fast switching between apps (double tap the App switcher key), split pop-up video, quick notification replies, drag and drop between apps and more. The event will be held in San Francisco and Seoul and will come just after the bustle of IFA has died down. The V20 will have V10's secondary screen, its dual selfie camera AND G5's dual back camera for good measure. Sony's CES press conference scheduled for January 6

New Year's Eve is approaching and with it time for celebration and, of course, CES. Today Sony confirmed its event will be held the day before CES officially kicks off on January 7. The Sony press conference will be held on January 6 (Monday) at LVCC, Central Hall. For those that won't be there, it starts 5pm local time and will run for 45 minutes, so you can expect the news of the new devices to roll in by 6pm PST. Sony's schedule lists 15 device categories, including tablets, netbooks, photography equipment and accessories, e-books, 3D video, portable and high-performance audio. So, we could be looking at a new Xperia Tablet or a Windows 8 tablet, but there's nothing in the rumor mill. Smartphones weren’t called out by name, but the rumor is that the Sony Xperia Z1s / Z1 mini will be unveiled at CES.
