Microsoft to launch consumer-ready Hololens v3 in 2019

HoloLens - the Microsoft mixed reality headset - is already available with a $3,000 price tag. The Windows 10 device has a Developer Edition and a Commercial Suite and is currently listed on the company's online Store. Microsoft said the sales are in the thousands and they are happy with the numbers.
According to the latest report, Microsoft is going to skip a generation and jump straight to version in 2019. Not releasing version 2.0 this year will allow the company to deliver a large upgrade, rather than just a polished version of what we already have.
Mass production of these devices is expected to launch in the second half of 2019 with expected 80 million headsets sold by 2020. That's certainly an ambitious goal and Microsoft will need to deliver something very special to achieve it.
