Apple Launches 8GB iPhone 5C, iPad 2 Discontinued

Fourth generation iPad now available for $399.

Apple has released a less expensive 8GB version of its iPhone 5C in the UK, as previously expected. The new iPhone 5C model can be purchased now for £429 unsubsidized, which is a £40 discount from the 16GB version. At this point it's unknown when or if the smaller storage option will also be available in other territories.
Apple has also discontinued the iPad 2, which was questionably offered as the $399 full-sized iOS tablet option when the iPad Air was announced last year. In its place, the iPad with Retina display—otherwise referred to as the fourth generation iPad or the iPad 4—will now be sold at the same price point. The fourth generation iPad features a 2,048 × 1,536 resolution display, Apple's A6X chip, and a Lightning connector.
