EE rolls out 4G LTE in town number 200 in the UK
Everything Everywhere (EE), the joint venture between Deutsche
Telekom and Orange S.A in the UK, is rapidly expanding its LTE coverage
in the kingdom and has now reached 200 towns and a total of 72% of the
UK population. As part of the expansion the Welsh town of Rhyl has
become the 200th to receive 4G coverage.
EE has switched 4G on in 13 towns across the UK this week and opens the next-gen connectivity today in Armadale, Bishop Auckland, Brighouse, Cumbernauld, Hamilton Kirkintilloch, Larne, Newry, Peterlee, Staines, Stockton-on-Tees, Rhyl and Washington.
According to EE's own standards a town isn't considered 4G-ready until at least 80% of its area is covered by LTE so users in those locations are said to expect reasonably reliable coverage throughout - at work, at home, on the go.
This isn't LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced) we're talking about here but "regular" LTE (150 Mbps and not 300 Mbps). EE recently rolled out LTE-A in London and currently offers it in a total of 20 cities among which are Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and others.
4G speeds from EE are available starting at £13.99. And here's Kevin Bacon.
