iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 now rule DxOMark's rankings with best smartphone cameras ever tested

With sales of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus starting today, DxOMark has published comprehensive reviews of both handsets' cameras. Lo and behold, they have jumped straight to the first two spots in the DxOMark rankings, leaving the HTC U11 and Google Pixel in the dust.
The Pixel used to be the king of DxO until the U11 got the same score of 90. Now though, the iPhone 8 Plus' camera becomes the best that the lab has ever tested, with a score of 94. The iPhone 8's shooter isn't far behind, ranked No.2 with its 92 points.
The iPhone 8 Plus shines in picture taking, with a record-breaking Photo score of 96, while for recording videos it gets a score of 89 - tied with the HTC U11 and slightly below the Pixel's 91.
The iPhone 8 Plus has "outstanding image quality" and "an industry-leading Portrait mode". It is at the top of the charts in nearly every category, while its advanced software means it does "an amazing job" at capturing HDR scenes and images with faces in them. It has the best zoom and best bokeh effects in a mobile device, very good video stabilization and color rendering, as well as good face tracking in bright light.
On the flip side, there's some color cast in low and indoor lighting for photos, as well as some autofocus issues. For videos, exposure issues are present, and noise is visible in low-light. The full breakdown of scores by category can be seen in the image above.
Moving on to the iPhone 8, this becomes the highest-performing single-camera smartphone tested by DxO Labs. That's not surprising of course, seeing as how its rear camera is identical to the main camera of the iPhone 8 Plus. The bigger device's secondary shooter gives it the edge when it comes to zoom and bokeh, which is why it scored higher than its smaller sibling.
As you'd expect then, the pros and cons outlined above for the iPhone 8 Plus' dual rear cameras mostly hold true for the iPhone 8's single snapper. You get among the best HDR performances of any device with the iPhone 8, very accurate autofocus, but some autofocus delays in both bright and low light.

Galaxy A9 Pro international variant is now Bluetooth certified

The Samsung SM-A910F - which is alleged to be the international variant of the Galaxy A9 Pro (SM-A9100) - has now received certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), indicating an imminent launch. This comes just a few weeks after the handset (both standard and dual-SIM models) received Wi-Fi certification from the WiFi Alliance (WFA). Prior to that, the phone was spotted on India's import/export tracking website Zauba. Sadly, pricing and availability details of the Samsung SM-A910F aren't yet known. iPhone SE teardown shows hardware ranging from iPhone 5 to 6s

The Apple iPhone SE is a 6s in a 5s body, but Chipworks dug into the internals and it turns out the story is more complicated than that. It straddles multiple generations - from the iPhone 5 selfie camera to the iPhone 6s chipset, a whopping four generations. The Apple A9 chipset is brand new and the SK Hynix-made LPDDR4 2GB memory matches the 6s as well. The NFC, audio chips and motion sensor are from that generation as well. The storage appears to be from the 6s as well, but an earlier 19nm chip instead of the 15nm being shipped now. The Qualcomm modem from the earlier iPhone 6 model while the touchscreen controller goes back to the iPhone 5s. 12.2-inch version of the Lenovo Yoga Book with Android shows up at Amazon priced at just $299.99

At IFA last year, Lenovo turned some heads with its Yoga Book, a 2-in-1 laptop / tablet hybrid that doesn't have an actual physical keyboard. Instead, its so-called Halo Keyboard is flat and doubles as a writing surface, complete with predictive input and autocorrect functionality. So far the Yoga Book has been available with a 10.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, running either Windows or Android. A model with Chrome OS on board is coming this year, but also a bigger one too. While the Chrome OS Yoga Book has been confirmed by Lenovo already, a 12.2-inch Yoga Book has been listed by Amazon without any proper official introduction. HTC One (M8) for Windows now available on Amazon for $50

Verizon's HTC One (M8) for Windows is now available for purchase at Amazon US. It costs just $49.99 with a two-year contract. You can get the contract-free (but Verizon-branded) model for $599.99. The smartphone went official a week ago as a Verizon exclusive. Its hardware absolutely identical with its Android-powered sibling - the HTC One (M8) flagship, but runs on Windows Phone 8.1. As we already know n the HTC One (M8) for Windows will be a limited time exclusive, as AT&T has already confirmed it will be selling it later this year. Today various reports suggest the phone is coming to T-Mobile and Sprint, too.
